Death Note III: The Shiteous Remake

Recently I've come to accept that Hollywood no longer possesses a single shred of originality, and while I don't approve of any of the shiteous remakes or adaptations they've churned out as of late, I've learned to contain the inner enraged fangirl and act like I don't give a shit. Unfortunately, the obnoxious fangirl in me has temporarily escaped from her bubble and I feel like one of those enraged fanboys that spent the entire Supanova convention huddled over by the Watchmen merch, debating over how well Ozymandias translated on the big screen.

Warner recently acquired the rights to the Death Note manga, specifically having acquired the "rights to turn the Japanese manga series "Death Note" into a live-action film". NEVER MIND THAT THE LIVE ACTION FILM HAS ALREADY BEEN DONE. TWICE. I know I'm a totally biased purist douchebag, but those films were incredible, and so faithful to the source text that the Death Note fan really couldn't ask for anything more.

While I can imagine Hollywood will do a fantastic job with special effects in terms of animating Ryuk, Rem, and the shinigami realm, they were so well done in the first place, that Ryuk and Rem ceased to be CGI characters - they looked like they were actually there. This isn't some George Lucas shit, it looked like you could literally reach out and give Ryuk a crate of apples if you wanted.

Seeing as Warner have only just acquired rights to the project, and casting hasn't even begun, I guess I'll hold my tongue (fingers?) on the subject until more information is available. Who knows, they could do a really great job with casting, and Misa Amane could be made significantly less annoying. Until we hear more I guess I'll just wait and hope that they don't universally fuck it up, Dragonball Evolution style. >_>

The Dragonball Z thing was complete bullshit. Where did the American guy come from? The irl actors? The pretty girl, not to mention probably the only one in the movie? I don't know much about it, but from the hype of it in elementary school and what I watched of it on the better Cartoon Network half a decade ago with actual good cartoons, that's not how it was. I WAS old enough to understand genders and the basic stuff, watched enough to know what it might've been about. FUCK HOLLYWOOD

*rage*

There is absolutely NO way that they can do better casting for L than original version.

IKR!

I've been racking my brains trying to come up with an actor to play him that isn't totally shiteous, but I got nothing. All the actors with the talent to play him don't look like him. So they'll probably get some semi-attractive Western guy and give him a emo fringe and hope we won't notice that he can't act.

I keep thinking they'll use Milo Ventimiglia with his horrible emo fringe LOL

That's exactly who I'd think they'd end up using.

And they'd probably use Shia LaBeouf as Light.

Though I'd have to admit, if that ended up happening, I would end up going and seeing it.

*hides face*
Don't judge me.
=P

HAHAHAHA
I reckon they'd use Justin Chatwin as Light, because he seems to be the king of shitty remakes :|

I just had a thought...

would they be doing it in two movies like the original live action films, or would they condense it all into one just in case it doesn't bring in the money?

They'll probably make one movie that isn't even relevant or faithful to the manga and then when it bombs they hopefully won't make more :)
